Traci began practicing law in 1996, and has focused her entire career on family law. She enjoys helping families in both settlement negotiations and trials related to their divorce, custody, visitation, modification, relocation, paternity, child support, alimony, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and adoption cases. While she always encourages clients to settle their cases amicably, she also realizes that may not be possible in some cases, and has devoted years of training, further education and certification in litigating cases.
Originally, Traci began her practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before returning to Alabama and working in The Crittenden Firm for over five years. In 2007, she decided to open her own firm, one that first and foremost focuses on family. She believes families come in all shapes and sizes, and, despite ending marriages and relationships, her clients can survive the often emotional legal process. As she frequently tells clients, “sometimes you can win the battle and lose the war,” and attempts to minimize the vitriol in cases, so that children are affected as little as possible, maintaining their love and affection for both parents.
Traci has handled high networth cases, as well as those where parties have very few assets. However, in each case, her clients are going through one of the worst experiences life will bring them. She wants make the legal process easier for her clients.
Not only does Traci teach continued legal education courses for other lawyers, she also served as co-author for Alabama in the American Bar Association’s “Law in the 50 States”. She has written articles about family law, and has participated in Committees for reform in laws related to domestic relations. Traci earned her Certification as a Family Law Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. She has also been a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, the Family Law Sections of the American and Alabama Bar Associations, and served as an Executive Board Member of the Alabama Section. She has been rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating, which is based on peer reviews.
Traci has received Top Attorney awards in both Birmingham and BMetro Magazines, both for Family Law and Appellate Law, and has been featured in Women’s Editions for Birmingham Weekly and The Homewood Star. She has numerous published appellate decisions, including a winning opinion in the United States Supreme Court, where she served as co-counsel.
Traci graduated from Auburn University, Magna Cum Laude, and the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was published in the Law and Psychology Review.
